Tourism Whitsundays is seeking a PR & Communications Specialist

Are you a public relations professional with outstanding communication skills and a passion for the Whitsundays region?  Would you like to work with one of the best known tourism brands and some of the leading tourism products and experiences in Australia? 

Tourism Whitsundays, the Whitsundays’ regional tourism organisation, is looking for a full-time communications professional to join the team. Reporting to the Sales and Marketing Manager, this full-time role is based in Cannonvale. The successful candidate will have experience in creating and executing PR plans for the Whitsundays, pitching and producing story ideas to media outlets, reporting on PR outcomes, writing media releases and blog posts, coordinating and hosting domestic and international PR familiarisations with journalists, enhancing marketing and digital campaigns with PR strategy, responding quickly and proactively to media requests and develop media relations with leading travel media.

In addition to the consumer facing PR function, this role will be responsible for corporate communications for the organisation and ensuring that the work and achievements of Tourism Whitsundays and the Whitsundays tourism industry is highlighted externally.  Experience in public relations and media  – conventional, digital and social media channels – is essential, as well as strong writing skills.  A background in the tourism industry and good knowledge of our local tourism industry would be an advantage.
