Getting Around in Airlie Beach

Once you arrive The Whitsundays, there are plenty of ways to get around, including car, bus, taxi, and ferry. Island resorts are connected to the mainland via daily resort connections, with air transfers by helicopter also available.

Cruise Whitsundays operates resort connections from the Port of Airlie Maritime Terminal in Airlie Beach to Hamilton Island and Daydream Island Resort & Living Reef. There are also limited services to Hamilton Island departing Shute Harbour.

Guests of Hayman Island can book a private, luxury transfer direct through Hayman Island to the resort.

Staying on Long Island? Island Transfers offers daily services from Shute Harbour to Palm Bay Resort. Transfers for Elysian Retreat can be arranged directly through the island.


Whitsunday Transit provides the region with a daily bus service connecting Proserpine, Cannonvale, Airlie Beach and Shute Harbour from designated bus stops every 30-60 minutes.

13CABS can also get you around town and are available 24 hours a day. A taxi rank is located on the Main Street of Airlie Beach opposite McDonald's Restaurant.
