Tourism Whitsundays Limited is the peak destination marketing and Regional Tourism Organisation for The Whitsundays region. The entire Whitsundays region includes the Whitsunday Islands and the mainland towns of Airlie Beach, Bowen, Collinsville and Proserpine.

Tourism Whitsundays (TW) seeks a dynamic and commercially driven CEO to lead one of the world’s premier tourism destinations in the heart of the Great Barrier Reef. This is a rare opportunity to drive growth and prosperity in a region experiencing record highs in tourism.

 Role Overview: As CEO, you are required to develop and implement innovative business and marketing plans to elevate the Whitsundays’ global profile, enhance visitor engagement, and boost overnight visitor expenditure. You will lead destination marketing, project implementation, industry development, investment attraction, and stakeholder relations.

 Key Responsibilities:

  • Partnership and Membership Establishment: Maintain effective partnerships to foster sustainable growth, and continue to grow membership across the region.
  • Team Leadership: Lead a high-performing team of professionals committed to the region’s growth.
  • Business Sustainability: Develop and implement sustainable business practices.
  • Funding Acquisition: Secure long and short-term funding from governmental bodies at various levels.
  • Strategic Guidance: Provide strategic advice and direction to the TW Board.
  • Community Engagement: Engage with local community and tourism members to foster collaboration and mutual support.

About the Role:

The Marketing Coordinator at Tourism Whitsundays will play a pivotal role in driving the organisation’s marketing efforts to showcase the unique beauty and attractions of the Whitsundays. This position involves planning, coordinating, and implementing various marketing initiatives to increase the region’s visibility as a premier tourist destination. The Marketing Coordinator will create and manage marketing campaigns, design eye-catching collateral using tools like Canva and Adobe Suite, and support PR activities and website management. This role requires close collaboration with the Marketing Manager and the wider team, attendance at industry events and trade shows, and identifying new marketing opportunities domestically and internationally. The ideal candidate will possess a blend of creativity, strategic thinking, exceptional communication skills, and a proactive problem-solving approach. Experience in graphic design and video editing and familiarity with CMS platforms will be advantageous. A passion for tourism and the ability to work effectively in a team and independently will be crucial in promoting the Whitsundays as a top travel destination.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Coordination of marketing campaigns and communications for consumer and trade activity
  • Supporting the preparation and implementation of short and long term marketing plans for Tourism Whitsundays
  • Creation of marketing collateral, including social media creative and print advertisements
  • Upholding The Whitsundays brand in all elements of the role
  • Assist in increasing awareness of the Whitsunday coast and island products in the domestic and international markets
