Shute Harbour

A beautiful natural harbour

Shute Harbour is 10km east of Airlie Beach and has been used primarily as a boarding point for boat operations to the islands and moorings for private boats, with a marine transit facility and secure parking with space for boat trailers, caravans and camper vans.

Rainforest-covered mountains surround the winding road which leads to Shute Harbour, with multiple Conway National Park walks departing at various points in the area. Take a drive to the top of Coral Point or walk to the scenic lookout at Mount Rooper for spectacular Whitsunday Passage and island views.

PLEASE NOTE: Shute Harbour is currently undergoing a $54.5 million restoration project. During the restoration project it is business as usual for operators at Shute Harbour with amazing experiences departing daily. Click on the links below for information

Shute Harbour Restoration project - April 2021 Update

The first finger pontoon arrives

Finger Pontoon 1 arrived last month by road from Townsville (see image above) and has been reinstalled at Shute Harbour. The remaining two refurbished finger pontoons are expected to arrive in the next few weeks and will be installed soon afterwards.

Second floor of the terminal building underway

The concrete slab for the second floor of the new terminal building has been laid and works continue on the structural columns of the new building.

Fishing pontoon will be moved to a permanent location

The fishing pontoon will be shifted to its permanent location at Shute Harbour in the next month, with a new gangway included.

Please note the fishing pontoon will not be accessible to the wider community until the project is completed later this year, for the safety of everyone.
