Shute Harbour

Shute Harbour is 10km east of Airlie Beach, a beautiful natural harbour which has been used primarily as a boarding point for boat operations to the islands and moorings for private boats, with a marine transit facility and secure parking with space for boat trailers, caravans and camper vans.

Rainforest-covered mountains surround the winding road which leads to Shute Harbour, with multiple Conway National Park walks departing at various points in the area. Take a drive to the top of Coral Point or walk to the scenic lookout at Mount Rooper for spectacular Whitsunday Passage and island views.

Shute Harbour Restoration project

Works have begun on site to rebuild the Shute Harbour marine facility. The demolition of a section of the existing seawall near Snows Beach has occurred, with construction of the new stepped seawall beginning in this section.

The new seawall will take approximately 8 months to build and the rock will be placed by excavator. New piles will also be driven to support the new wharf and pontoons. While the piles are being driven into place, there will be an irregular hammering noise at times. Council apologises for any inconvenience caused by these works.

Once the seawall is built, the new terminal buildings and pontoons will be installed. The restoration project is expected to be completed by mid-2021, weather permitting.

PLEASE NOTE: During the restoration project it is business as usual for operators at Shute Harbour with amazing experiences departing daily.
