A full day on the water aboard Camira, an 85-foot sailing catamaran. Sail through the Whitsunday Islands to Hill Inlet Lookout and Whitehaven Beach, with a snorkelling stop at the fringing reef. Barbecue lunch, snorkelling gear, and stinger suits are all included. Camira is one of the most stable boats in the Whitsundays, which makes a difference with kids on board.
Check in at Port of Airlie for the morning departure. Camira is hard to miss: a bright yellow 85-foot catamaran. The crew runs a safety briefing on deck, then the sails go up and you are heading out through the islands. Morning tea is served on board.
The boat anchors at Tongue Point on the northern end of Whitehaven Beach. A guided walk takes you up to the Hill Inlet Lookout, around 20 minutes each way. From the top, the view is white sand and turquoise water swirling with the tide. Younger kids can skip the walk and stay on the beach below.
Back on the sand, Whitehaven stretches seven kilometres along Whitsunday Island. The silica sand is 98% pure, stays cool underfoot, and gets everywhere (in a good way). Swim, build sandcastles, or snorkel the fringing reef with gear provided by the crew. A barbecue lunch with drinks is served on the beach or back on board.
